Who this is for
People who have suffered abuse, or who still do. That includes people who need to leave a household or a relationship, people who have already left, and people who still have to deal with the person involved from time to time.
If you are in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. If you cannot speak, call 999 from a mobile and press 55 when asked.
Committee of Defence
Private work with people who are in abusive environments, or who have left them and still have to live with what follows.
The Committee of Defence works with people, not with a public caseload. What we publish here is only what a stranger needs in order to know that the organisation exists and how to ask for contact.
People who have suffered abuse, or who still do. That includes people who need to leave a household or a relationship, people who have already left, and people who still have to deal with the person involved from time to time.
We will not describe how cases are taken, how people are moved, how contact is managed, or how other parts of a person’s life are supported. That information helps the people we work against.
These are the only three statements we make about the work itself.
When a person needs to get out of the environment they are in, that is the first task.
When they are out, the next task is to keep them safe in the life they now have.
When they still have to deal with the people involved, or with the rest of their life, we stay with that work.
The organisation is split by function. Public names are listed. Public methods are not.
If you already work with us, use the route you were given. If this is your first contact, send a short private request and we will reply through a route you control.
